Catelyn Stark Timeline – Game of Thrones

Catelyn Stark was born, the eldest daughter of Lord Hoster Tully, Head of house Tully and Lord of Riverrun, and his wife Minisa Whent.

Catelyn’s sister, Lysa was born.

Catelyn’s brother, Edmure was born.

Catelyn and Lysa were close and they used to play with their father’s ward, Petyr Baelish.

Catelyn’s mother died in childbirth. After her mother’s death Catelyn became closer to her father.

Catelyn was betrothed to Brandon Stark the heir to Winterfell in the North.

Petyr Baelish told Catelyn that he was in love with her and tried to kiss her but she pushed him away. He got drunk and had to be put to bed. Later that night Lysa Tully came to his bedchamber.

The date for the wedding between Catelyn and Brandon Stark was announced. Petyr Baelish was upset and challenged Brandon to a duel. Baelish was badly injured in the duel, which Brandon Stark won, and left Riverrun soon afterwards.

Brandon Stark and his father Rickard were murdered by Aerys Targaryan after going to Kings Landing to demand and explanation for the assumed abduction of Lyanna Stark by Rhaegar Targaryan.

Lord Hoster Tully promised Catelyn to Eddard Stark the new Lord of Winterfell.

Catelyn Tully married Eddard (Ned) Stark. At the same time Lysa Tully married Jon Arryn.

A son, Robb was born to Catelyn and Ned Stark.

Catelyn Stark discovered that her husband had a bastard son, Jon Snow, and that he was to be raised as his son with the Stark children. Eddard refused to tell her who Jon Snow’s mother was which caused disagreement between them.

A daughter, Sansa was born to Catelyn and Ned Stark

A daughter, Arya, was born to Catelyn and Ned Stark

A son, Brandon (Bran) was born to Catelyn and Ned Stark

A son, Rickon, was born to Catelyn and Ned Stark.

A raven arrived at Winterfell carrying a message from Lysa Arryn that her husband had been killed by the Lannisters.

Winterfell received notification that King Robert Baratheon would visit Winterfell.

Robert persuaded Ned to become Hand of the King and travel back to Kings Landing with him. A betrothal between Robert’s son Joffrey and Sansa Stark was agreed.

Catelyn’s son, Bran witnessed Jaime and Cersei having sex. Jaime pushed Bran off the wall hoping the fall would kill him. Bran survived but was paralysed.

Ned went to Kings Landing with Robert Baratheon. He took Sansa and Arya with him. Catelyn and their other children stayed at Winterfell.

Following an attempt to kill Bran with a valerian steel dagger, Catelyn suspected that he may have seen something in the Tower and that the Lannisters may want him dead. She travelled to Kings Landing with Rodrik Cassel to tell Ned.

In Kings Landing Catelyn met with Petyr Baelish after showing him the dagger he revealed that it belonged to Tyrion Lannister.

Catelyn Stark captured Tyrion Lannister at the Crossroads Inn on her way back to Winterfell and took him to her sister’s home, The Eyrie.

Tyrion was tried for attempting to murder Bran. He requested trial by combat and the sellsword, Bronn agreed to fight for him. Bronn won the battle and Tyrion was freed.

Catelyn’s husband, Ned Stark was arrested in Kings Landing charged with treason.

Catelyn Stark left her sister after she refused to send any men to help Ned’s cause.

Catelyn joined her son, Robb who had marched South to avenge his father.

Catelyn negotiated with Walder Frey to allow Robb’s army to cross the Green Fork. Frey agreed on condition that Robb married one of his daughters.

Catelyn Stark learned of the execution of her husband by Joffrey Barratheon. She tried to persuade her son, Robb, to avoid war in the South to protect Sansa and Arya but Robb refused.

Catelyn Stark warned Robb not to send Theon Greyjoy to negotiate an alliance with Balon Greyjoy saying that the Greyjoys could not be trusted.

Catelyn travelled to meet Renly Barratheon, Robert’s younger brother who believed he should be King. While at Renly’s camp she witnessed Renly’s murder with Brienne of Tarth. Concerned that they would be accused of the murder Catelyn took Brienne of Tarth into her service and they left the camp bound for Riverrun.

When Catelyn learnt that her sons Bran and Rickon had been murdered by Theon Greyjoy she made a deal with Jaime Lannister, who had been captured by Robb and was being held at Riverrun. Catelyn freed Jaime on condition that he would return her daughters to her. She sent Brienne of Tarth with him to make sure that he kept his promise.

Catelyn’s brother, Edmure put her under house arrest for freeing Jaime Lannister.

Catelyn Stark was horrified to learn that Robb had married Talisa Maegyr

Catelyn learned of the death of her father.

Catelyn Stark attended the funeral of her father and reminisced about her childhood with her uncle Brynden Tulley, known as Blackfish.

Walder Frey sent word that although he was upset that Robb had gone back on their agreement he would still agree to an alliance if Robb made a formal apology and Catelyn’s brother Edmure married one of his daughters.

Catelyn travelled with Robb, Edmure and their followers to the Twins, the Frey home, for Edmure’s wedding.

As the wedding celebrations drew to a close Catelyn noticed that Roose Bolton was wearing chain mail under his clothing. She also noticed that the Frey servants had closed the doors and realised they had been trapped. She screamed to Robb but it was too late. Catelyn witnessed the death of her daughter-in-law and was wounded by a crossbow shot before seizing Walder Frey’s wife and holding a knife to her throat. Catelyn threatened to kill Frey’s wife unless Robb was released. Frey refused the terms. Catelyn then witnessed Roose Bolton stab Robb in the heart. She cut Walder Frey’s wife’s throat in retaliation.

Catelyn had her throat cut by Black Walder and is believed to be dead. The event became known as the Red Wedding.
