Note: Ragnar Lothbrok is featured in many of the Norse sagas and is also mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles. It is unclear from these sources whether he was a real person or a legendary figure. His sons however, are real Vikings.

Siege of Paris
This Viking attack by 120 Viking ships on Paris was led by Reginherus who may have been Ragnar Lothbrok. The Vikings withdrew after being paid 2500 kg of silver and gold.

Despite being warned against sailing to England Ragnar Lothbrok made the voyage. He was shipwrecked off the Northumbrian coast. On hearing the news,
King Aelle of Northumbria immediately marched, defeated the Viking army and took Ragnar prisoner.
