Auditions were held in London, Leeds, Dublin, Newcastle, Birmingham and Glasgow. Each TV programme showed a selection of auditions from different locations.

Judges were allocated categories:
Simon Cowell – Over 25s, Sharon Osbourne – 16 – 24year olds, Louis Walsh – Groups

In programme 1- 12 contestants in each category were selected.
In programme 2 – 5 contestants in each category were selected to go to Judges’ Homes.

16 – 24 years – Tabby Callaghan, Cassie Compton, Roberta Howett (Megan Ramsay and Andy Steed were sent home)
Groups – 2 to Go, G4, Voices with Soul (Advance and 4Tune were sent home)
