1991 (Summer)
Liam Gallagher joined the group The Rain which was made up of Paul Arthurs known as ‘Bonehead’, who played guitar; Paul McGuigan, known as ‘Guigsy’ who played bass guitar and Tom McCarroll who was the group drummer. Liam replaced Chris Hutton as vocalist.
1991 (Summer)
Liam Gallagher suggested that the band change their name to ‘Oasis’.
1991 (18th August)
Oasis played at the Boardwalk Club in Manchester. It was their first performance. Liam’s brother, Noel, who was a roadie for the group ‘Inspiral Carpets’ went to watch his performance.
1992 (around)
Noel Gallagher, Liam’s brother, asked if he could join the band as their songwriter. He also wanted to be the leader of the band.
1992 (during)
Oasis made a lot of local performances but were hoping to gain a recording contract.
1993 (Spring)
Oasis made a demo tape entitled ‘Live Demonstration’.
1993 (May)
The group ‘Sister Lovers’ invited Oasis to play at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. The band were initially refused entry as they were not on the official list but they managed to get into the club and played a slot. They were seen by Alan McGee, owner of Creation Records, who offered them a recording contract.
1994 (6th February)
Oasis began a 14 month tour of Europe, Japan, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom to promote their album ‘Definitely Maybe’.
1994 (11th April)
Oasis released their first single ‘Supersonic’. It reached number 31 in the UK charts.
1994 (13th June)
Oasis released the single ‘Shakermaker’. It reached number 11 in the UK charts.
1994 (8th August)
Oasis released the single ‘Live Forever’. It reached number 10 in the UK charts.
1994 (29th August)
Oasis released their first album ‘Definitely, Maybe’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts within a week.
1994 (September)
During a concert in Los Angeles, Liam hit Noel with a tambourine. Noel was so annoyed that he left the band and flew to San Francisco. He was persuaded to return to the band.
1994 (10th October)
Oasis released the single ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’. It reached number 7 in the UK charts.
1994 (18th December)
Oasis released the single ‘Whatever’. It reached number 3 in the UK charts.
1995 (early)
Oasis released the radio single ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ in the United States.
1995 (24th April)
Oasis released the single ‘Some Might Say’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
1995 (late Spring)
The Gallaghers felt that drummer Tony McCarroll was not on a par with the rest of the group and forced him out. He was replaced by Alan White
1995 (22nd June)
Oasis began a 14 month, 100 show tour of Europe, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom to promote their album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’. They headlined at Glastonbury Festival as part of the tour.
1995 (14th August)
Oasis released the single ‘Roll With It’. It reached number 2 in the UK charts.

On the same day that ‘Roll With It’ was released, the group Blur released a new single. The press, already speculating on a rivalry between the two bands, saw this as a continuation of that rivalry.
1995 (28th August)
Oasis released ‘Live By The Sea’ a video of their concert at the Southend Cliffs Pavilion on 17th April 1995 and videos for two of their singles, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ and ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’.
1995 (September)
Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan left the band due to nervous exhaustion. He was replaced by Scott McLeod.
1995 (18th September)
Oasis released the single ‘Morning Glory’ in Australia and New Zealand. It was also released as a radio single in the United States.
1995 (2nd October)
Oasis released their second studio album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 4 in the US.
1995 (30th October)
Oasis released the single ‘Wonderwall’. It reached number 2 in the UK charts and number 8 in the United States.
1995 (Autumn)
Scott McLeod left the group claiming that he missed his girlfriend. Paul McGuigan was persuaded to return to the group.
1995 (November)
The group played two concerts at Earls Court, London. They were the largest indoor concerts ever held at that time.
1996 (19th February)
Oasis released the single ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 55 in the United States.
1996 (27th, 28th April)
Oasis headlined two concerts at Manchester City Football ground. Both Noel and Liam were big fans of Manchester City.
1996 (13th May)
Oasis released the single ‘Champagne Supernova’ in Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand and the United States.
1996 (3rd, 4th August)
Oasis played to an audience of around 80,000 people at Balloch Country Park, Loch Lomand, Scotland.
1996 (10th, 11th August)
Oasis headlined Knebworth playing to audiences of 125,000 people on each of the two nights of the concert.
1996 (mid August)
Liam pulled out of a concert at the Royal Festival Hall which was being recorded for MTV Unplugged but watched from the balcony heckling Noel’s singing throughout.
1996 (late August)
Liam refused to go on a tour of America and the band left without him.
1996 (30th August)
Liam changed his mind and rejoined the American tour.
1996 (4th September)
During a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City, Liam behaved badly, making rude gestures to Noel and spitting beer over the stage.

Liam flew home from America without the rest of the group.

Oasis released ‘… There and Then’ a video of footage from three concerts of their ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ tour.

Oasis released the compilation box set ‘Definitely Maybe: Singles’.

Oasis returned to the recording studios but progress was slow due to continual quarrels between Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Oasis began a 9 month World tour to promote their album ‘Be Here Now’.

The single ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’ was released. It reached number 1 in the UK and number 20 in the US charts.

Oasis released their third studio album ‘Be Here Now’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 2 in the US.

Oasis released the single ‘Stand by Me’. It reached number 2 in the UK charts.

The single ‘All Around the World’ was released. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.

Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs left the group saying that he wanted to spend time doing other things. He was replaced by Gem Archer.

Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan left the group saying that he wanted to spend time doing other things. He was replaced by Andy Bell.

After Creation Records folded, Oasis formed their own record label, Big Brother.

Oasis began an 8 month tour to promote their album ‘Standing on the Shoulder of Giants’.
2000 (7th February)
Oasis released the single ‘Go Let It Out’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
2000 (28th February)
Oasis released their fourth studio album ‘Standing on the Shoulder of Giants’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 24 in the US.

Oasis released the radio single ‘Where Did It All Go Wrong’ in the United States.

Oasis released the single ‘Who Feels Love’. It reached number 4 in the UK charts.
2000 (24th May)
Noel Gallagher had a disagreement with the band while on tour and decided to quit overseas touring with immediate effect. He returned for shows in the UK and Ireland. He later decided to rejoin the band.
2000 (3rd July)
The single ‘Sunday Morning Call’ was released. It reached number 4 in the UK charts.

Oasis released the live album ‘Familiar to Millions’, a video of their concert at Wembley Stadium on 21st July 2000. It reached number 5 in the UK charts.

Oasis began a one month tour of the United States and Canada with groups ‘The Black Crows’ and ‘Spacehog’.

Oasis released the single ‘The Hindu Times’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.

The single ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’ was released. It reached number 2 in the UK charts.

Oasis began a 9 month world tour to promote their album ‘Heathen Chemistry’.

Oasis released their fifth studio album ‘Heathen Chemistry’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 23 in the US.
2002 (8th August)
Noel Gallagher, Andy Bell and keyboardist Jay Darlington were involved in a car accident. Although none had major injuries some of their tour dates had to be cancelled.
2002 (23rd September)
Oasis released the double A sided single ‘Little by Little/She is Love’. It reached number 2 in the UK charts.
2002 (3rd December)
Liam Gallagher, Alan White and Phil Smith the tour DJ were arrested in Munich after a fight broke out at a club. The band had to cancel the rest of their concerts in Germany.
2003 (3rd February)
The single ‘Songbird’ was released. It was the first single written by Liam Gallagher. It reached number 3 in the UK charts.
2004 (early January)
Drummer Alan White left the group. This delayed the release of their upcoming album ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’ by six months.
2004 (February)
Zak Starkey, drummer with The Who, son of Beatle Ringo Starr agreed to work with the group in the studio and on tour but did not become a member of the group.
2004 (25th June)
Oasis, with Zak Starkey, headlined Glastonbury. The performance received mixed reviews.
2004 (6th September)
Oasis released ‘Definitely Maybe’ a video of the album plus interviews and footage about the making of the album. The video was released to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the release of the original album.
2005 (10th May)
Oasis began a 10 month world tour with drummer Zak Starkey, to promote their album ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’.
2005 (16th May)
The single ‘Lyla’ was released. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
2005 (30th May)
Oasis released their sixth studio album ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 12 in the US.
2005 (22nd August)
Oasis released the single ‘The Importance of Being Idle’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
2005 (28th November)
The single ‘Let There Be Love’ was released. It reached number 2 in the UK charts.
2006 (20th November)
Oasis released the compilation double album ‘Stop the Clocks’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
2007 (15th February)
Oasis were awarded a Brit Award for outstanding contribution to music.
2007 (21st October)
Oasis released the digital single ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’. It reached number 10 in the UK charts.
2007 (29th October)
Oasis released a documentary film entitled ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’ which included footage from the group’s ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’ world tour.
2008 (May)
Zak Starkey left the band after recording was completed for the album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.
2008 (June)
Oasis signed a contract with Sony BMG for a further three albums.
2008 (26th August)
Oasis began a 12 month tour to promote their album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. Chris Sharrock, former drummer with Icicle Works, joined Oasis as drummer for the tour.
2008 (7th September)
While performing in Toronto a member of the audience ran onto the stage and assaulted Noel Gallagher. The attack left Noel with three broken ribs and tour dates had to be cancelled.
2008 (22nd September)
The single ‘The Shock of Lightning’ was released. It reached number 3 in the UK charts.
2008 (6th October)
Oasis released their seventh studio album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 5 in the US.
2008 (1st December)
Oasis released the single ‘I’m Outta Time’. It reached number 12 in the UK charts.
2009 (25th February)
Oasis were given the New Musical Express (NME) Award for Best British Band of 2009..
2009 (9th March)
The single ‘Falling Down’ was released. It reached number 10 in the UK charts.
2009 (4th, 6th, 7th June)
Oasis played three concerts at Heaton Park, Manchester.
2009 (23rd August)
Oasis cancelled their appearance at the V Festival due to the fact that Liam was sufferinf from laryngitis. Noel issued a statement stating that the show had been cancelled because Liam had a hangover. Liam sued Noel for defamation but the case was dropped after Noel apologised.
2009 (28th August)
Shortly before the group were due to play a concert at the Rock-en-Seine festival, Paris, Liam and Noel had a heated argument that led to a fight. Shortly afterwards it was announced that the group “does not exist any more”. The six remaining concerts of the ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ Tour were cancelled.
2010 (16th February)
The album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ won the best British album of 30 years award. Liam collected the award alone and thanked all band members apart from Noel. He then threw the award to the crowd stating that he wanted to give it back to the fans.
2010 (14th June)
Oasis released the compilation album ‘Time Flies… 1994-2009’. It reached number 1 in the UK charts and number 4 in the US.
2016 (26th October)
The documentary ‘Oasis: Supersonic’ was released. The film tells the story of the group’s beginnings and their rise to the peak of their fame in 1996.
